October 16th is Blog Action Day 2011
It's that time of the year again: BLOG ACTION DAY!
Sign up if you will dedicate a post on OCTOBER 16th to talk about a very important aspect of humanity = FOOD.
Most especially on October 16th, bloggers are enjoined to use their blogs to talk about FOOD- the lack of it in some areas, its importance in our respective cultures, the challenges of feeding the world with a population of almost seven billion, nutrition in the face of junkfood and fastfood- whatever our blogs' niche maybe.

My dad and I were recently talking about this, it's really sad. Although there is a lot of support for aid in Africa, it seems like the wrong solutions are being applied. Or maybe it's just really so difficult to move on from distributing aid to building more sustainable programs that will give them a lasting solution to their many issues.
@Vera: since i work in an NGO which does a lot of technical assistance, it's really frustrating when resources poured into communities- be it human or material ones- do not seem to be producing the expected results. it's a huge conundrum, but at times it really isn't; sometimes it's just common sense admixed with an eye for justice and sense of equity...
